The filmless micro channel plate provides a higher Signal-to-Noise Ratio than standard 3rd Generation devices that improves image quality under low-light conditions. An Autogated power supply also improves image resolution under high light conditions and reduces the halo affect that can crop up in lower Generation night vision devices. Units with 4th Generation Autogated/Filmless image intensifier tubes have a typical resolution of 64-72 lp/mm and a minimum Signal-to-Noise Ratio of 24.
